Last weekend brought an unexpected sadness. I found myself reflecting on the heartbreak that can come when relationships don’t go as planned. It’s hard to witness, and even harder to feel the weight of disappointment when things don’t turn out as hoped. In the midst of this, I was reminded of something important: love, on its own, isn’t always enough.
If God isn’t at the center of our relationships or plans, they can feel incomplete, no matter how much love is there. This idea was echoed in the homily on last Sunday’s Mass, where the priest spoke about the sanctity of marriage. He shared that love is the foundation, but it’s God’s presence and purpose that make it strong enough to endure life’s storms.
This message resonated deeply. It’s a reminder that love, while beautiful and powerful, is also a journey of personal growth. We are called to commit not only to each other but also to the community around us. When we do that, we create bonds that last—because they are rooted in something deeper than just affection.
In every relationship, whether it’s a marriage, a friendship, or even our connection with ourselves, growth happens when we stay committed to something greater. We face challenges, we experience joy and pain, but with God’s guidance, we learn and grow through it all.
Let’s embrace the idea that love, grounded in faith and community, is what allows us to thrive. By lifting each other up and remaining steadfast in our commitments, we create a space where everyone can grow and flourish.
Together, we can build a community that nurtures love, supports personal growth, and honors the presence of God in our lives.
